And yes, that is Avery wearing underwear over her pants. Which are actually Siena’s pants. Because the first thing they do whenever they see each other is peel their clothes off and trade outfits, or parts of outfits. (This can get awkward when we’re out in public.) Fortunately, Avery is wearing her own underwear here.

But not for long. . .  

. . . Soon they will discard all clothing in favor of painting themselves bright purple and blue. That’s right, this photo was taken mere moments before they went on a rampage of destruction, resulting in the loss of many items of clothing, and a certain innocence on my part. Believe me, I will never be that naive and trusting again. Siena asks me daily now when she can use paint and scissors again, and I like to vary my responses:

“When you’re four.”

“When you have your own apartment.”

“When you have a job, and can afford to replace anything you damage. And when you can afford to send me to a day spa while you clean up.”  

“When Daddy gets home.”
