Not everyone feels sorry for the sick baby
December 17th, 2008
There is a sign taped to the wall on the stairs down to our basement. It is a simple sign, handmade with blue marker on white construction paper. It reads:
“NO LETTING ELLIOT”
(There is also what looks like a giant “A” at the top of the page; no one is sure why.)
While the message seems to be incomplete, it is certainly emphatic. Had the paper been bigger, or the sign-maker’s writing smaller, the sign would have said something along the lines of “NO LETTING ELLIOT DOWNSTAIRS.” But the sign-maker was slightly taken aback at how many letters went into the word “letting;” there was barely room for “Elliot” after that.
…..
P.S. The poor (and unwelcome in the basement) baby is still sick but getting better quickly. I am now competing with him in a Most Prescriptions To Keep Track Of Contest. I went to the doctor today and came home with several medications of my own, one of which comes with “a 10% chance” of making me break out in hives, because I am allergic to penicillin. Neat. I won’t be trying that one until after tomorrow night’s happy hour. No one wants to sit across the table from Hive Face.

Isn’t “A” the symbol for anarchy? Hmmm…better watch out.

Anarchy would definitely be a good way to describe what things have been like over here lately.
